There was still social stigma against leprosy and so called â€Å"Leprosy Sanatorium† was isolated from rest of the world with a huge wall. I remember carrying a bag of clothes collected by my mother for the patients there. I was deeply touched by the smile and gratitude patients showed to the nurses caring for them and cleaning their wounds. That is when I decided that I want to become a nurse. Another reason for my decision to become a nurse is my brother, who is also a nurse. His experiences and stories from hospital inspired me and made me realize that nursing is truly for me. I joined one of the prestigious Universities in India for my BSN through merit and scholarship and I graduated at the top of my class. After graduation I worked in various a cute care settings and also as a clinical instructor in India. I came to the United States on a dependent visa in 2006.
